Praying for power....

I really should NOT complain. I am in a warm house (my wonderful uncle and aunt who took us in), have had 3 warm meals each day and my children have not complained in the least!!! Yet, I find my self sitting here LONGING for power. It has been 4 days now, and we have been told up to 10 days. REALLY? Again, I really should not complain.....there are so many that have chosen to stay in their homes during the power outage, like all 3 sets of our parents....and we admire them for that!! Please join us in praying for all who were and are effected by this ice storm.....
What I really need is the POWER of the love of Jesus in my heart right now. SO, here I am signing off, to go and pray!!! :)
God is good.....

Let it Snow, let it snow, let it snow
...and, boy, did we ever get snow, and ice, and FREEZING temperatures....and we, along with thousands of other folks, lost power....we are camping out at my aunt's house...along with 11 other family members. It's a big party!!
The picture was one I could not resist posting....Joel was our hero the day we got all the ice and snow. We had to make quick decisions once we lost power, as the house was getting cold and the roads were getting worse. Joel dug our car out, and got us here safely. The look on his face in this picture was due to a minor incident. We got stuck going up a hill and waited a while before getting help getting unstuck....and we almost got hit by a sliding SUV coming down the hill. All was OK in the end and we are thankful to be here, in a warm house, with family.
We hope you are well and staying warm!!!

Praying for Healing.....

This week I have learned about a church friend who has been diagnosed with cancer at 20 years old. I have also learned about a sweet 4 year old girl who has Leukemia and is struggling through her treatment and an aunt who will undergo surgery in the near future for a brain tumor causing symptoms. And we have a 15 month old china doll who is facing heart surgery in the near future. It has become so evident to me that this world simply does not have a lot to offer. It is full of pain, sickness, cancer, heartache, loss, and ultimately death. BUT, this world is also not our home, AMEN? So as I have spent time in prayer and communion with God, He has made it clear to me that HE is in control and that HE is sovereign. He will take care of those who love HIM and serve HIM and, thus, I need to surrender to HIM and know HE is in charge. I don't know about you, but that is SO hard for me to do on a daily basis. I learn of a friend who is sick and I want to fix them and make them feel better. I want to make it go away. I have a daughter who's heart is sick, and I want to be the one to heal her and comfort her and prevent the surgery all together, but I cannot do that. BUT, I know THE GOD who can and I praise HIM in advance for HIS healing powers.
SO, I am praying for absolute miracles. May HE be glorified and may others come to believe in HIM as HIS will unfolds. May our friend be CANCER FREE, may our young friend survive this round of chemo and live the rest of her life proclaiming her healing, may my aunt be tumor free after her surgery and live a full life and may our daughter's heart HEAL. And may GOD receive ALL the praise and adoration for HIS healing.

This post is part of "Hi/Lo Thursday" on Riggs Family Blog (www.riggsfamilyblog.com):

Our Highlight:

OK, we have 2.....hard to pick just one.
1 - watching Nate swim this week.....he has remembered a lot of what he learned over the past summer, and it was fun watching him get back in the water.
2 - Naomi is really coming out of her shell....one we did not even realize she was in.....truly. Her personality is hilarious and WE LOVE IT!!!!!

Our lowlight:

We have a very dear young family member who is struggling with depression and it has been painful to watch him go through this valley. However, we are confident that the Lord can do SO much more than we could imagine and trust in HIM to restore his sweet soul.

Life is good.
Please pray for Abby Riggs......

A Worthy Cause for Celebration......

I am getting SO excited for this coming Sunday!!! We are celebrating BIG!!! Naomi's Fund, the organization our dear friends founded, will be having a fund raiser and celebration of those children who have been matched with their forever families. We will be celebrating our sweet Naomi, and share in the joy with 2 other families as they have been matched with their beautiful children from Ethiopia. We will have a guest speaker, live music and testimonies (one being from yours truly, and yes I AM NERVOUS), and of course yummy food!
For more information, you can check out the website at:
www.naomisfund.com
Whether you are family, friends, seeking adoption options, feel led to start the process, or simply want to come and share in our joy, we would love to have you!
The picture is of one of my necklaces. I have been making them for about a year, raising support for future families. It has been a lot of fun and something small I can contribute to a fund that changed our lives forever! They will be for sale, along with other wonderful items, this Sunday.
We hope you can join us.

Naomi standing in her walk-behind, sportin her new smile

Favorite time of the day, meal time!!!!

Say Cheese!!!!

We are having so much fun these days!! Christmas was fun, extra days off from work was fun (having Joel home) and watching Naomi and Nate play together and laugh together has been a blast!! She has really started to show her sweet, fun-loving personality. As you can see from the pictures, she's a real ham - and fits right into our family!!

Nate has adjusted quickly to his new big brother role. There are times when he would want more attention (like when he says "mom, you aren't giving me any attention, you are giving it all to Na Na) - rest assured, he is getting lots of great attention. He has started rock wall climbing and is loving it! He has been about 5-6 times now and asks to go almost everyday. Hard to believe he will be 5 soon!

Naomi is just about to take her first few steps. She stands on her own and has that look on her face of determination. I have the cameras ready and hope to capture them if at all possible. Joel and I are so thankful we get to see her first steps, a milestone we thought we had missed.

We are scheduled in February for another echocardiogram (I am sure I am botching the spelling of this word, which is why Joel won at Scrabble the other night - I can't spell). The plan at this point is to proceed with the heart procedure in March. More to come as we know more.

I (Lee-Anne)Wanted to share a few resolutions (or challenges as I like to refer to them as):

1. More time with the Lord, less time on the computer (last year was less TV - which was replaced this year by the computer)
2. More quality time with Joel and the kids, making dinnertime and the few hours that follows important and worthwhile and fun
3. Spend (which means shop) less - significantly less.
4. Save more.
5. Focus on circle of friends and family around me - seeking ways to minister to them in the everyday.

Happy New Year! May the Lord bless you and your family.
