Dedication and the "sick bug"

This past Saturday we dedicated Naomi at our church. It was very important to us to stand in front of our church family and make a promise to raise her in the Lord; one, for accountability, and two, to celebrate our new daughter and allow others to rejoice with us that she is in our arms!! Though she was starting to feel under the weather, we decided to go ahead and stick with our plans. I wish I could say she was SO happy and was on her best behavior; however, as I wrestled her into her traditional chinese dress and we waited in line for our turn on stage, it was apparent she really was not feeling too well. Because I am so short, we were hardly seen on stage, as we were in the second row of 150 people....so all her tears and cries were not seen or heard. Bless her heart. The days since have only gotten a little worse. She has been fighting a horrible cold, Nate has had a bad cold which has turned into a bad cough and his asthma is acting up, and the stomach bug has re-entered our house for the second time in 2 weeks.....
If you have a moment, please pray for health and restoration of our children (and Joel).
If we can pray for you, please don't hesitate to leave a comment.......

Happy Valentines Day!! Our family has had quite the week with the stomach bug......it has been long nights and seemingly longer days as we have all 4 had it over the past 11 days. However, on the very sweet day we celebrate, we all woke up HEALTHY and the sun is shining, and we are SO thankful. We have much to celebrate as Joel and I are so thankful for each other and the past 12 years we have been together; as well, we celebrate our 2 children and have doted on them all day today (I contemplated this word "doted" as I was not for sure it was THE word I was looking for, but since we have had the week we have had, I chose it because we are making this day about them - yummy meals, movies, playtime, store bought cupcakes)

We have wonderful news about Naomi!! We are praising God for a great check up at the cardiologist's office. After a new test on her heart, they have found that one of her valves is seemingly the same IF NOT BETTER than the test that was done in November!!! WHAT??? Yes, that is what we said over and over...we are ecstatic!! We prayed for a miracle and, so far, God is answering in this way. She may well heal!!!! As for her aortic valve with a small tear in it, we are monitoring that one closely and will have a follow up appointment in May.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

My apologies!!!

..for leaving you hanging...we got our power back! (actually a week ago, and life has been that hectic that it has taken me a week to post!)
It's amazing the things I take for granted...like my home, running water, electricity, my own schedule, etc. We ended staying with my aunt and uncle and 2 cousins and their families. It was fun. Nate and Naomi had a blast playing with all their cousins. It was like a party!!
We are getting back to normal these days. School started back, which was good for Nate (and me to be totally honest), Naomi has settled right back into a routine, and really adjusted quite well when we were out of routine as well...I am so very thankful for flexible children. I think I need to learn a thing or two from them.
This next week Naomi has her follow up with her cardiologist. She will have a new test done, to compare to the one done back in November, then the plan is to schedule the procedure from there. It will be done here locally at the children's hospital.
I registered Nate for kindergarten this past week. So hard for me to believe he is going to be 5 in less than 2 months and go to school in less than 6 months!!! Wasn't it just yesterday that we were praising God for an amazing young woman's decision as she chose us to be his mommy and daddy?? (sniff, sniff) As much as I may not be ready, I see that he is. He is very social and active and gets so excited when we talk about school and his new friends and new teacher. For now, I think we'll just look forward to spring and then summer and enjoy the days and months ahead. That "first day" will come soon enough.
Naomi is doing wonderful! She has taken several steps this week!!! The most she has taken, all on her own, has been about 8-10. It has been so fun to be a part of that milestone - I must admit I cried when we heard that she was not walking yet, as I prayed earnestly that we would get to be a part of that!! The Lord answered our prayers!
OK, it's getting late and we have a big week ahead. We pray you are doing well.
Much love from the Fenwicks!
